It looks like bad weather for the Xmas KNC event has become a tradition! The Met Office has issued a warning for possible strong winds and heavy rain on Thursday evening. Given the likely soggy conditions we will now be printing clue sheets on waterproof paper. It is suggested that you use a pencil to write on these.

Note also that for this event, under British Orienteering rules, any under 16s must be accomapnied by an adult at all times and neither the accompanying adult nor the junior may be competitive (i.e. no KNC points will be awarded).

Congratulations to our new KNC champions Neil Crickmore (SO) and Sarah Howes (SAX).

The first 3 men in the league overall were Neil Crickmore (SO), Ian Ditchfield (MV), and Neil Speers (DFOK). The first 3 ladies were Sarah Howes (SAX), Jane Lambert (SO), and Heather Brown (SAX).

Best Male vet (M40+) & supervet (M60+) not in the top 3 were awarded to Chris Hooker (SO) and Steve Waite (SAX) respectively. Best Female vet (W40+) and supervet (W60+) went to Toni Ives (SAX) and Sue Parker (SO). Best newcomer was awarded to Tom Davies (SAX).

Many thanks to everyone who took part this season, especially to all those who helped behind the scenes, planned events, or who helped collect in controls afterwards.

Kent Night Cup will return for a fifth season in September.

Sadly Peter Hayler, who was almost a founding member of Saxons died suddenly last week. Peter who lived in Hastings was 83. His funeral will be held at Hastings Crematorium on 3rd February and some members who knew Peter might like to attend or send cards to his wife. Peter was an enormous support to the club when he was active, being a excellent organiser and planner and more recently mapping many schools with Bernard Wilson. Our sincere condolences go to his wife and family at this sad time.
