Planner's Report
As has been said on previous occasions Blean Wood is a delightful area with a good path system, runnable woodland and plenty of contours. A good area then to cut my teeth on. Nick H and Simon M kept me on track and I learnt a lot from them. Planning is not as easy as it may seem and I have a new found admiration for planners and organisers alike.
One of the issues that I suppose always confronts planners is the changing landscape and Blean is no exception. The paths are probably less distinct than they once were but on the day were more visible than they were earlier in the year. The vegetation also has a habit of growing with leaf litter gradually filling up some of the smaller depressions. There were a couple of map corrections but these were mainly confined to changes in fence lines.
All in all the feedback I had back was that people enjoyed the courses with just the right amount of challenge required in thought and fitness. The controls were not particularly hard to find but offered a number of route choices to get to them.
